Who should attend?
All new first year students, including transfer students with fewer than 30 hours, are expected to attend. Students attending classes at EKU-Corbin, EKU-Danville, or EKU-Manchester are invited to attend events on those campuses. For additional information about events planned for each of the extended campus sites, please call:

Residence Halls
Move-In Day for new students living in the residence halls is Friday, August 22 beginning at 7:30 a.m. The arrival times for specific halls are pre-assigned and will be mailed to students prior to move-in. All first year students are expected to move in on this day. Returning students may move in starting at 8 a.m. Saturday, August 23.
Program Check-in
Residential students will check in at their residence hall. Commuting students must check in for the program on August 22 between 8 a.m. and 7 p.m. in the First Year Programs Office, 372 Student Services Building.
Fee Payment, housing,
parking decals & ID cards
Campus offices will be open Friday, August 22 and Saturday, August 23 (10 a.m. – 5 p.m.)
for students to pick up ID cards and parking decals, activate meal plans, check on financial aid, pay fees, sign up for advising and talk with housing staff. |

Colonel Kick-Off Picnic
The Colonel Kick-Off Picnic is August 22 from 4:30 - 6:30 p.m. in Powell Memorial Plaza. Information on Family Weekend and the EKU Family Network will be available. The entire family is invited to attend! New Transfer Students and Non-Traditional students are welcome and encouraged to attend and bring their families.
President's Picnic
President Doug Whitlock invites you to attend the annual President’s Picnic on Sunday, August 24 at 5 p.m. at the President’s House. Attendees will enjoy free food, receive a free gift and have an opportunity to meet the President and EKU faculty and staff members.
EKU READS A Hope in the
Unseen by Ron Suskind
The first discussion on the EKU Reads assignment will take place Sunday, August 24 during New Student Days. Staff, faculty and students have volunteered to lead small discussion groups on this special day. The program includes movies, panels, conversations with Cedric Jennings (the subject of the book) and the author, Ron Suskind. Books are given free to all students attending orientation.
