During
New Student Days students will be able to move into residence halls,
will participate in a convocation with the President, will have opportunities
to meet faculty and administrators from their academic area, will have
time to get acquainted with the library, will be able to visit and be
trained in using the computing labs, and will learn the location of
campus buildings. Students will also have small group discussions of
the book assigned during the summer with an orientation instructor.
Students will attend an activity fair and special interest group sessions,
social events, and have time to pay fees and pick up important information.
The mission of this program is to help students become acclimated to
the University. As a result, when classes begin students have a better
understanding of student life at the university. New Student Days provides
opportunities to meet other students and faculty. By making explicit
links between the Summer Orientation Program, New Student Days and the
Freshman Orientation course, the First Year Programs Office will help
students experience this transition as a continuum resulting in a smoother
integration into the University community.
New Student Days is required for all first
time freshmen and transfers with less than 30 hours. Transfers
with more than 30 hours are also welcome to attend, but are not required.
Fall 2008 NSD dates are August 22-24. Please check back later for additional information.
